Rep. Wale Ahmed Declares Tinubu’s Second Term in 2027 Assured

Member representing Agege Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr Wale Ahmed, has said critics of President Bola Tinubu should abandon any plan to challenge him in the 2027 general election, insisting that the President’s re-election is certain.

His remarks come amid vows from opposition parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to unseat the President. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Labour Party flagbearer Peter Obi and an ADC coalition led by former Senate President David Mark have been vocal in their criticism of the Tinubu administration.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ briefing at the Agege Local Government Secretariat, Ahmed argued that just as former President Muhammadu Buhari, from the North, was allowed to serve two terms, Tinubu from the South should also be supported to complete two terms.

The lawmaker said Tinubu’s economic reforms and international engagements had restored Nigeria’s respect abroad and laid the foundation for long-term recovery.

“All his opponents should rest and allow him to have a second term. All opposition should simply rally round and support Tinubu. Late President Muhammadu Buhari from the North served two terms so Tinubu should also have his second term. By God’s grace his second term is assured. I will mobilise my constituents to ensure Tinubu is returned for another term” Ahmed declared.

He defended the fuel subsidy removal, describing it as a bold step that demonstrated the President’s courage and long-term vision. According to him, the restructuring of the economy was already yielding results, with foreign reserves surpassing $40bn, increased foreign direct investment inflows, reduced inflation and the rollout of N90bn in student loans.

Highlighting infrastructure, Ahmed listed the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway and the Abuja–Kano dual carriageway rehabilitation as evidence of the administration’s commitment to development. He added that Tinubu’s foreign trips had attracted respect for Nigeria while unlocking investments.

“The Sokoto–Badagry expressway had been on paper for 40 years until this administration took it up. It will open up villages and benefit people across different states,” he said.

On his own stewardship, Ahmed pointed to youth and women empowerment programmes, boreholes, streetlights, food palliatives, medical outreaches, classroom construction, skill acquisition initiatives and scholarships as part of his constituency projects.
