Lamido Gives PDP Nine Days To Resolve Internal Crisis

Lamido issued the ultimatum while meeting with PDP figures in Jigawa, including former chairmen, commissioners and long standing allies who pushed for the complete dissolution of the Ibadan convention and the conduct of a fresh one. The former governor said core stakeholders like himself had been edged out by new forces seeking to alter the party’s established structure and weaken his political influence.

He clarified that his recent legal steps were not designed to secure personal power or place himself in control of the party, but to defend the PDP’s legacy and protect his fundamental rights which he said had been violated. Lamido stressed that, based on the party’s constitution, Umar Damagum and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remain the recognised leaders of the PDP until their tenure ends on December 8, 2025.

He called for the creation of a caretaker committee and appealed to key actors including Nyesom Wike, Damagum and others to embrace reconciliation and support a unified interim leadership. According to him, only collective forgiveness and honest dialogue can steer the PDP back to stability.

Lamido also urged the party’s national hierarchy to convene a joint meeting to address the root of the crisis and set a clear course for rebuilding cohesion and credibility. He encouraged his supporters to stay calm and patient until December 8, noting that the developments expected in the coming days will shape the direction of the party.
