APC, PDP, NNPP, APGA Share Victories as INEC Declares By-Election Results Across 16 Constituencies

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released more official results from Saturday’s by-elections across different states of the federation.

In Anambra State, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ifeoma Azikiwe, won the Onitsha North I State Constituency by-election. Declaring the results, INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Ibiam Ekpe, announced that Azikiwe secured 7,774 votes, defeating her closest rival, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Justice Azuka, who polled 1,909 votes.

In Kano State, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) emerged victorious in the Bagwai/Shanono State Assembly by-election. The Returning Officer, Prof. Hassan Shitu, declared Dr. Ali Kiyawa of the NNPP winner with 16,198 votes, ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ahmad Kadamu, who scored 5,347 votes. Similarly, the APC clinched the Ghari/Tsanyawa supplementary election in Kano, with Returning Officer Prof. Muhammad Waziri announcing Garba Gwarmai of the APC as winner with 31,472 votes, defeating the NNPP’s Yusuf Maigado, who garnered 27,931 votes.

In Edo State, APC’s Joseph Ikpea won the Edo Central Senatorial District by-election. INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Kingsley Omo-Iwoze, declared him winner in the early hours of Sunday at Ubiaja, headquarters of Esan South-East Local Government Area. Ikpea polled 105,129 votes, far ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Joe Okojie, who scored 15,146 votes.

In Adamawa State, the APC reclaimed the Ganye State Assembly seat, with Musa Misa Jauro declared winner after polling 16,923 votes against PDP’s Buba Muhammad Joda, who finished with 16,794 votes. The announcement came shortly before 5 a.m. on Sunday.
