APC Ogun Suspends Ex-Governor Gbenga Daniel, Loyalist Over Alleged Anti-Party Acts

The party’s Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, confirmed the development in a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday. According to him, the suspension was ratified at the State Working Committee (SWC) meeting presided over by the state chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi.

Daniel, a member of APC Ward 4, and Folarin, of Ward 6, Sagamu Local Government, were accused of misconduct and anti-party activities. Their suspension followed the submission of reports by the ward-level investigation and disciplinary committees.

The party disclosed that both men were formally invited to appear before the committees, given opportunities to present their defence or request pardon. However, they allegedly ignored the invitations, failed to provide written responses and shunned the disciplinary sittings.

According to the statement, the committees went ahead with deliberations, relying on witness testimonies and documentary evidence. They further accused Daniel and Folarin of intimidating party members and pressuring them to withdraw petitions against them.

“In view of their deliberate and unexplained absence, coupled with attempts to frustrate the process, the committees resolved to suspend the members indefinitely, pending further investigation” the statement read.

Copies of the suspension letters were forwarded to the state chairman, who approved them, with the SWC ratifying the decision. The party stressed that the move reflected its commitment to internal discipline and upholding its constitution.
