Tinubu Orders Review of Military Operations after Borno Terror Attack

Abuja, Monday September 9, 2025 – President Bola Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces to review ongoing security operations, including the deployment of advanced military hardware and surveillance equipment, to eliminate terrorist groups across Nigeria.

The directive followed Vice President Kashim Shettima’s condolence visit to the people of Borno State after a terrorist attack on Darajamal community in Bama Local Government Area that claimed several lives, including civilians and soldiers.

In a statement by his spokesman Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President reaffirmed the President’s order to strengthen military operations and ensure terrorists are completely dismantled.

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum had on Saturday visited Darajamal to commiserate with families of the victims killed by Boko Haram insurgents during the Friday night assault.

The Vice President expressed confidence in the Armed Forces’ ability to overcome the challenges, noting Tinubu’s approval for the acquisition of additional drones and his directive for all security agencies to intensify and review their strategies.

Shettima also emphasized that the Federal Government is considering the establishment of state police, stressing that President Tinubu believes some security challenges require specialized units that understand the local terrain and culture for effective grassroots operations.

He offered prayers for the bereaved families and assured both the state government and the affected communities of continued Federal Government support in tackling insecurity.
