Ondo Political Parties Intensify Mobilisation for Continuous Voter Registration

Political parties in Ondo State have stepped up efforts to mobilise their members and residents for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. Party leaders say proactive steps are being taken to enlighten citizens on the importance of registering in order to secure their eligibility to vote in future elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier opened the online pre-registration portal on Monday, August 18, 2025, through www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, ahead of the physical registration phase scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025. The in-person exercise will hold across all 37 state offices and 774 local government areas nationwide to ensure accessibility for eligible voters.

State Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Mr. Cornelius Akintoye, confirmed that the party has fully mobilised its members across the state’s 18 local government areas. He explained that the ZLP has intensified grassroots outreach and is independently driving participation to ensure a strong turnout. According to him, “We have motivated our people, and we are already seeing encouraging participation across the 18 local governments.”

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), through its State Chairman, Pastor Peter Olagookun, also disclosed that the party has launched sensitisation campaigns to encourage citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He noted that the initiative goes beyond political interest, stressing that the voter’s card is a tool for citizens to shape governance and demand accountability.

Similarly, the State Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Hon. Oluwafemi Oladejo, revealed that his party has structured mobilisation from the grassroots up to the state level. He emphasised that voter registration is not just for indigenes but for every Nigerian resident who meets the requirements. The ADP, he said, is focusing on rural communities where awareness is often limited, encouraging citizens to take advantage of the opportunity.

Party leaders across the state continue to urge eligible Nigerians not to miss the exercise, stressing that active participation in the electoral process remains the only way to influence political change and secure a better future for the country.
