AAUA Lecturers Declare Indefinite Strike Over Unpaid Salaries

Academic activities at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, have been brought to a halt as the institution’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) commences an indefinite strike.

The industrial action was announced in a memo signed by the union’s Chairperson, Dr. Boluwaji Oshodi, and Secretary, Dr. Olusegun Taiwo, following a congress meeting where the resolution was reached.

According to the lecturers, the strike was prompted by the Ondo State Government’s failure to settle outstanding salaries and arrears owed to members.

“By this notice, our members have been directed to withdraw their services from all academic activities in the university until all outstanding salaries and arrears are paid” the statement declared.

The development has left students stranded, with academic work suspended indefinitely pending government intervention.
