Wellness Wednesday: You Are Not Alone

Wellness Wednesday: You Are Not Alone

Its Wednesday, family! Midweek always feels like that little checkpoint between the rush of Monday and the anticipation of the weekend. But today is more than just another Wednesday, it carries an important reminder because this week marks World Suicide Prevention Day. It’s a moment for us to pause, breathe and remember that even in the middle of life’s chaos, none of us are walking alone.

The truth is, struggles often hide in plain sight. That colleague who is always cracking jokes may be fighting battles nobody sees. That church member who never misses choir practice might be quietly overwhelmed. Even in school, remember how some classmates smiled brightly after failing an exam or losing something precious? On the outside, everything looked fine, but inside they were holding it together with invisible threads. Life has a way of weighing us down, but connection has a way of lifting us up.

So what can we do this Wednesday? Start small. Check in with someone, not the casual “How far?” but the heartfelt “How are you, really?” Sit with a friend and let them rant without cutting in. Call a sibling or an old friend just to remind them that they matter. If you’re in the market, smile at the vendor and ask how their day is going. If you’re at work, share puff-puff, biscuits or gist with your colleague during break. These little gestures may feel simple to you, but they can mean the world to someone silently struggling.

And if you’re the one feeling heavy, please remember: you don’t have to wear the mask forever. It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to admit that you’re tired. Talk to someone you trust, pray if that’s your anchor, write your thoughts down, or seek professional support if possible. Even the strongest buildings need pillars, and so do we.

At the end of the day, life isn’t perfect—it’s messy, unpredictable, sometimes disappointing—but it’s also full of laughter, music, snacks, sunsets and second chances. Your story is still unfolding and the chapter you’re in now isn’t the end.

So as we carry on with this Wednesday, let’s make it a mission to choose kindness over assumptions, to listen more than we talk, and to let others know they are seen, heard, and loved. Because sometimes, the smallest act of care is the light someone needs to see tomorrow.

Wednesday Mantra: The world is better with you in it. You are needed. You are loved. You are not alone.
