Ondo Police Arrest Three Suspected Kidnappers of AAUA Lecturer, Recover Ransom Cash

Eleyinmi was reportedly abducted by armed men at his residence along the Akungba–Supare Akoko Road last Sunday. He regained his freedom yesterday following the payment of an undisclosed ransom.

According to police sources, the suspects were apprehended in a forest near Ago Paanu, a village between Oba Akoko and Owo, while allegedly sharing the ransom money. A viral video of the arrest showed the suspects with bundles of cash believed to be part of the payment collected for the victim’s release.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olusola Ayanlade, said:

“I can confirm to you that our operatives arrested three suspected kidnappers in connection with the kidnapping of an AAUA lecturer. The suspects are currently undergoing profiling and interrogation.”

Ayanlade added that the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, had directed that the suspects, along with all recovered exhibits, be transferred to the anti-kidnapping squad for a discreet and thorough investigation.

The police assured that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
