Wesley University Approves 50% Fee Cut for Selected Programmes Ahead of 2025/2026 Session

The Vice Chancellor Prof Samuel Obeka made the announcement during the institution’s 14th convocation ceremony on Saturday where he explained that the university’s leadership considered the prevailing economic challenges before arriving at the decision.

According to him the downward review reflects the institution’s commitment to ensuring that quality education remains affordable, accessible and inclusive for families across the country. Obeka stated that the new structure is meant to give many students a chance at continuing their academic pursuits despite current economic pressures.

He however revealed that while several departments benefitted from a reduction a few professional programmes experienced a slight upward adjustment. He clarified that these specific programmes require sustained investment in modern facilities, clinical training tools, specialised academic staff and compliance with regulatory standards set by accreditation bodies.

Obeka described the new fee structure as a balanced approach that upholds compassion while safeguarding academic excellence. He stressed that the institution cannot compromise the quality of training in highly technical fields that demand continuous upgrades and heavy infrastructural support.

The Vice Chancellor also highlighted that Wesley University, owned by the Methodist Church Nigeria, has recorded a significant increase in student enrolment. He attributed the growth to the recent approval of new academic programmes by the National Universities Commission, adding that the university remains focused on expanding academic offerings while maintaining high standards.
