Comfort Emmanson Gets ₦500k Job Offer, Possible Aviation Ambassador Role Amid Legal Debate

The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, announced on Thursday that Emmanson had been offered a job in Delta State with a monthly salary of ₦500,000. She will also enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to the state, including flight tickets, five-star hotel accommodation, a guided tour of tourist sites and entry to the Delta Social Media Summit in Asaba on August 28.

In a related development, Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, revealed that the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) is considering appointing Emmanson as a “Good Conduct Ambassador” to promote positive passenger behavior in the aviation industry.

The developments come just days after her release from detention, following public outcry and calls for clemency.

Meanwhile, Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, has attributed the Federal Government’s decision to pardon Ibom Air passenger Comfort Emmanson to its own handling of the recent controversy involving Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Falana said the withdrawal of charges against Emmanson was influenced by the government’s refusal to prosecute KWAM 1 for alleged offences at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

According to the Senior Advocate, the government’s acceptance of KWAM 1’s public apology without allowing police investigations to conclude has weakened its moral authority to take legal action against any other unruly air passenger.

“Since citizens have equal rights, obligations and opportunities before the law, the Federal Government risks accusations of discriminatory treatment if it prosecutes any other passenger after ‘pardoning’ KWAM 1 without a criminal trial” Falana stated.
