Dino Melaye Expresses Regret Over APC Support, Eyes 2027 with ADC

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme aired on Friday, Melaye reflected on his former alliance with the ruling party, admitting, Once I was blind, now I see, I regret in totality, Just like you confess your sins in the Lord’s Prayer, I ask for forgiveness”.

He condemned the APC-led administration for the worsening state of the nation, particularly the growing levels of hunger and poverty. “You don’t need a prophet to understand the suffering in this country. It’s visible to the blind and audible to the deaf,” he said. “People are dying of malnutrition. Announce a rice giveaway in your village today, and if you’re not careful, there’ll be casualties from the rush”.

Melaye, now a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), voiced strong confidence in the party’s potential to challenge and defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential election.

“We’re building a stable and credible platform in the ADC. I believe it will produce the candidate that will unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu he stated.

When asked about supporting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Melaye refrained from endorsing any aspirant, saying the focus for now is on stabilising the ADC and ensuring a transparent convention.

I won’t discuss preferences or presidential candidates until the party is fully stabilised he said.

While Atiku is yet to officially declare his 2027 intentions, Melaye commended his ongoing political efforts. What Atiku is doing is commendable, rallying men of honour and integrity to salvage the country from the disastrous policies of the APC he concluded.
