Fayose Hails Acting PDP Chairman for ‘Rescuing’ Party from Intensive Care

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has commended the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdulrahman Mohammed, saying he has revived the party from what he described as an “Intensive Care Unit.”

Fayose, in a statement issued on Tuesday, praised Mohammed’s leadership, expressing confidence that the PDP would recover and thrive under his stewardship.

The former governor’s remarks followed the Oyo State High Court’s decision to overrule a previous judgment by the Abuja Federal High Court, which had halted the party’s planned national convention in Ibadan over alleged procedural lapses.

On October 31, 2025, Justice James Omotosho of the Abuja Federal High Court stopped the PDP’s national convention, citing non-compliance with due process. However, Justice A.L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court later vacated that order, granting permission for the convention to proceed as scheduled.

He further likened the PDP’s revival to a patient recovering from a critical condition under new management. “The PDP has been rescued from their hands and is now in intensive care, being looked after by the Acting National Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman. I am confident the party will survive under his leadership and begin the process of healing from the damage inflicted by those political vampires represented by the Ibadan elements,” Fayose added.

The comment marks Fayose’s continued call for internal reform within the PDP as the party seeks to rebuild its base ahead of the next general elections.
