Ousmane Dembélé and Aitana Bonmatí Crowned 2025 Ballon d’Or Winners

History was made in Paris on Monday night as Ousmane Dembélé claimed the 2025 Men’s Ballon d’Or, while Aitana Bonmatí secured the Women’s Ballon d’Or, further cementing her dominance in world football.

Dembélé’s dazzling performances for Paris Saint-Germain and France earned him football’s most prestigious individual honor. Overwhelmed with emotion, the winger said: “This award means everything to me. I’ve worked so hard through setbacks, and to stand here as the best in the world is a dream come true. I dedicate this to my teammates, my family and every fan who believed in me.”

On the women’s side, Aitana Bonmatí lifted her second consecutive Ballon d’Or after another stellar year with Barcelona and Spain. She reflected: “This is not just my award — it belongs to my team, my coaches, and to all the women pushing football forward. We are proving every day that women’s football deserves the biggest stage.”

The evening also celebrated emerging talent. Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal took home the Kopa Trophy for best young male player, while teammate Vicky López was honored with the inaugural women’s Kopa Trophy.

In goal, Gianluigi Donnarumma of PSG and Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton won the Yashin Trophies for best male and female goalkeepers respectively. Donnarumma said: “A goalkeeper rarely gets the spotlight, so this recognition makes me proud. It pushes me to keep raising the bar.”

Other major honors included the Gerd Müller Trophies, with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres (men) and Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor (women) recognized as the top scorers of the year. PSG coach Luis Enrique and England’s Sarina Wiegman were named Coaches of the Year, while Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal Women collected the Club of the Year awards.

The Sócrates Award, dedicated to humanitarian work, went to Fundação Xana for their outstanding social impact.

The 2025 Ballon d’Or gala reinforced not only the brilliance of individual players but also football’s growing global reach across men’s and women’s games.
