Tobi Amusan Secures Semi-Final Spot in 100m Hurdles at World Championships

The 28-year-old Nigerian star dominated heat six, finishing first with a time of 12.53 seconds to claim an automatic qualification spot. Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton followed in second place with 12.69 seconds, while Italy’s Elena Carraro finished third in 12.86 seconds.

Several top contenders also secured their semi-final spots, including Olympic champion Masai Russell of the United States, reigning world champion Danielle Williams of Jamaica, as well as Nadine Visser, Ackera Nugent and Grace Stark.

Amusan will be back on the track on Tuesday when both the semi-finals and the final of the women’s 100m hurdles are scheduled to take place.

In another event, Nigeria’s Sade Olatoye competed in the women’s hammer throw but fell short of qualifying for the final. She managed a best throw of 68.82 metres, which was below the required mark.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Kanyisola Ajayi and Israel Okon will feature later in the day in the men’s 100m semi-finals and final, as day two of the championships continues in Tokyo.
