Qatar Introduces Stricter Visa Rules for Nigerian Travellers

The Qatari Ministry of Interior has announced new visa regulations for Nigerian travellers, citing recent cases of overstays as the primary reason for the policy shift.

According to information obtained by newsmen, applicants must now book a confirmed return transfer along with hotel reservations before tourist or transit visa requests will be processed.

Eligibility has also been narrowed. Only females or family groups can apply under the new system, while male travellers are no longer eligible unless they are accompanied by their families.

In addition, visa applicants are required to present bookings strictly from 5-star hotels, as lower-category accommodations will no longer qualify.

The new rules take immediate effect and cover both fresh and pending applications, meaning Nigerians with ongoing requests must meet the updated requirements before approval.

This policy change is expected to affect many intending visitors, especially solo male travellers, and could reshape travel patterns between Nigeria and Qatar.
