Ondo APC Elders Pledge 1.5 Million Votes for Tinubu in 2027

Operating under the banner of the Ondo State APC Elders Movement, the leaders declared their commitment during a meeting held on Monday in Akure, the state capital.

The group’s Chairman, Senator Nimbe Farunkanmi, said the elders would ensure that at least 1.5 million out of the state’s 1.9 million registered voters turn out to vote for Tinubu in 2027.

“This is the elders’ movement for Tinubu’s continuity in office. Similar meetings will be held at local government, ward, and unit levels to drive the re-election of the President” Farunkanmi stated.

Echoing this position, another party leader, Jamiu Ekungba, explained that mobilisation was already underway, with registration anchored on commitment. He stressed that the elders were working closely with citizens to encourage participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“You know, in the last election, we tried it and achieved success. For the governor to win 366,000 votes was unusual. So, as has been said, we are going to deliver 1.5 million votes to Tinubu. It is possible because the state currently has 1.9 million registered voters” Ekungba said.

He lamented persistent voter apathy but assured that the elders were determined to persuade citizens to participate. “We are going to vote massively for Tinubu in a way that has never been done. When we return that figure, nobody will question its authenticity because it will be real votes” he added.

Mrs Olukemi Iyantan, Ondo State representative at the National Population Commission, noted that the elders had shifted focus to 2027 following the November 2024 governorship election.

“We are concentrating on the achievements and victories ahead of 2027 for President Tinubu’s re-election. The issue is unity of purpose and the creation of this elders’ movement. With leaders and elders committed to the cause, re-election will be easier to achieve” Iyantan said.
