PDP Accuses Aiyedatiwa Administration of Running Ondo Like a Bazaar of Deceit

In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Wande T. Ajayi, the opposition party alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government under Aiyedatiwa has resorted to blackmail instead of transparency and accountability.

Ajayi challenged the state government to publish the list of contractors, payment records and details of the 2025 budget implementation if it has nothing to hide.

He maintained that the PDP would not tolerate threats or any attempt to weaponize the Cybercrime Act to silence critics. According to him, the current administration has been “chasing shadows” instead of addressing issues such as hunger, unemployment and infrastructural decay that continue to plague the state.

“It is laughable that an administration unable to justify its reckless spending or failure to meet basic obligations to its citizens and local governments now talks about defending truth. What truth? The truth that governance is on autopilot? The truth that projects have stalled while the state’s treasury keeps swelling? The truth that hospitals are failing, schools are in poor condition and Ondo South is nearly cut off from the rest of the state?” Ajayi queried.

He further accused the government of neglecting Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), which has been on strike for two months, warning that the students’ union was threatening mass protests.

Ajayi added that “those who thrive on manipulation cannot suddenly claim to be apostles of morality.” He vowed that the PDP would continue to expose what he called “the lies, waste and hypocrisy” of the APC-led government.

“Truth is not defended by threats; it is proven by conduct. Sadly, this government has failed that test miserably,” he concluded.

In response, the Special Assistant to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Digital Media, Yomi Oyekan, dismissed the PDP’s claims, describing them as baseless and politically motivated.

Oyekan stated that the governor is “doing what the PDP never could — fixing what was broken.”

He said, “Opposition is not about tantrums or tired slogans. Ondo people have moved on. The state is progressing. Salaries and pensions are being paid, projects are ongoing and lives are improving daily. The PDP should take notes instead of crying for attention.”
