“I Cried” Pastor Jerry Eze Opens Up on EFCC Investigation Experience

Popular Nigerian pastor Jerry Eze has shared an emotional account of his experience during a money laundering investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The cleric, who leads Streams of Joy International and hosts the widely followed New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations, spoke during a foundation grant ceremony held in Abuja on April 29, 2026. His remarks came after the chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, revealed that the pastor had previously been investigated by the commission and cleared of any wrongdoing.

According to the EFCC chairman, the investigation lasted for six months and focused on allegations of money laundering. At the end of the probe, the commission found no evidence of any crime.

Speaking openly about the period, Pastor Jerry Eze described it as one of the most difficult times in his life. He said he was under intense pressure and often became emotional as he carried out his daily activities.

He revealed that each morning, while driving to lead his NSPPD prayers, he would find himself in tears. He said he felt hurt and confused, especially because he believed he had always acted in good faith.

In his words, he would speak to God during those moments, expressing his pain and questioning the situation. He also shared that he placed the name of the EFCC chairman on the altar, praying through the situation despite the emotional weight he was carrying.

Pastor Eze added that the moment he heard he had been cleared brought him great relief. He expressed gratitude to God, saying the outcome strengthened his faith.
