Suspected Boko Haram Attack in Bornu: Students Writing NECO, Teachers Abducted

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents reportedly attacked Lassa town in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on Monday, abducting an unspecified number of students sitting the ongoing National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations and several teachers.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers, who were reportedly armed and dressed in military-style camouflage, stormed the community during a busy market day, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.

Reports indicate that at least one teacher was killed during the attack, while several students and teachers were taken to an unknown location. The exact number of casualties and abductees has not yet been officially confirmed.

Residents also alleged that soldiers stationed in the area were away on patrol at the time of the incident, leaving the community vulnerable to the attack.

Security agencies have yet to issue a comprehensive statement on the incident as efforts continue to determine the number of those affected and the whereabouts of the abducted victims.
