China has pledged a RMB 200 million (about ₦40.3 billion) grant to support development projects in Nigeria.

Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, announced the grant during a meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Dunoma Ahmed, in Abuja.

According to the ambassador, the funding will support development projects jointly agreed upon by the Nigerian and Chinese governments as part of efforts to advance Nigeria’s development priorities.

Yu said the grant reflects China’s continued commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and strengthening bilateral cooperation between both countries.

He also noted that China and Nigeria have maintained diplomatic relations for 55 years, with both countries working to implement agreements reached by their leaders and the outcomes of the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit.
