Ibom Air Passenger Comfort Emmanson Shares Her Side of Mid-Flight Controversy

Miss Comfort Emmanson, the young woman at the centre of a recent altercation involving an Ibom Air crew member, has spoken out about the incident, giving her own account of what transpired.

In a post shared on her Instagram account, @soft_commy, Emmanson alleged that a flight attendant, identified as Julian Edwards, forcefully pulled off her frontal wig, tore her clothes, cut off her gold jewelry, and damaged her phones. She further claimed that the attendant insulted her by calling her a prostitute, blocked her from disembarking after landing in Lagos, and physically attacked her, leaving her bruised and humiliated.

Narrating her ordeal, Emmanson said the confrontation began on August 10 while the aircraft was still on the ground in Uyo. She explained that she was struggling to switch off her phones during the pre-flight checks, which appeared to upset the attendant. According to her, although a fellow passenger eventually assisted in turning the devices off, the attendant left warning her, “you will see.”

She alleged that the tension escalated after the plane landed in Lagos. While attempting to leave the aircraft, she claimed the attendant blocked her path, prompting her to record a short video. It was then, she said, that the attendant dragged her inside, yanked off her wig, broke her phones, and tore her chain and clothing.

“The pain was unbearable. Anyone who has fixed a frontal wig knows how painful it is to have it pulled out forcefully. She inflicted so much pain on me, and when I asked why, she insulted me, calling me a prostitute,” Emmanson recounted.

She further alleged that other crew members surrounded her, manhandled her, and exposed her body while recording videos that later circulated online. According to her, the videos have worsened her distress as private images of her body have been shared and turned into memes and stickers.

“The trauma is too much. I cannot even go out freely anymore. My body is out there for everyone to see, and people mock me online. I sell real estate, and I worry how I will face clients during property presentations when my reputation is being dragged like this,” she lamented.

Emmanson said the experience has left her deeply shaken, stressing that she is not a troublemaker and had never intended to defy flight safety rules. “I never refused to switch off my phone. I am not a nuisance. I have been silent because I was undergoing treatment, but I am now strong enough to share my side of the story,” she said.
