Professor Femi Mimiko Emerges as New Lisa of Ondo Kingdom.

Ondo Kingdom, Ondo State — October 25, 2026

Professor Nazim Oluwafemi Femi Mimiko has reportedly been appointed as the new Lisa of Ondo Kingdom, a prominent traditional chieftaincy position in Ondo State.

The development was acknowledged in a commentary published on October 19, 2026, by Oloroogun Sola Ajisafe, who congratulated Professor Mimiko on his emergence as the new Lisa of the ancient kingdom. However, details of the formal installation ceremony and an official palace announcement were not included in the report.

Professor Mimiko is a renowned Nigerian political scientist and academic known for his contributions to higher education, political economy and public administration. He previously served as Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, between 2010 and 2015.

His academic career spans several decades, with research interests in international relations, comparative political economy, and development and transition studies. He has also received recognition for his scholarship, leadership and public service.

The Lisa is an important traditional title within Ondo Kingdom’s chieftaincy structure and is associated with the traditional administration of the community under the authority of the Osemawe, the paramount ruler of Ondo Kingdom.

Professor Mimiko’s reported emergence comes after the death of the former Lisa, High Chief Sir Simeon Olusola Oguntimehin, whose passing was announced in April 2026.

His appointment is expected to attract interest among residents of Ondo Kingdom, traditional institutions and the academic community, given his longstanding contributions to education and public affairs.
