Ondo Police Arrest Two AAUA Students Over Alleged Drugging and Sexual Assault

Confirming the development, the Command’s spokesperson, Olushola Ayanlade, said investigators established that the victim had been invited to the home of her long-time friend, 19-year-old Queen Sodo, who also studies at the institution. Their relationship began in secondary school and had continued into their university years, making the victim unsuspecting of any danger.

According to the police, the victim accepted a drink offered by Sodo, not knowing it had been spiked with a sedative. The substance rendered her weak and unable to defend herself. After incapacitating the victim, Sodo reportedly stepped out of the room and later returned with a male accomplice, who allegedly proceeded to assault the young woman while Sodo stayed nearby.

A neighbour raised the alarm after hearing unusual movements and found the victim unconscious alongside the male suspect. The police were alerted and the victim was rushed for immediate medical care before being referred to a specialist hospital, where she is currently responding to treatment.

Ayanlade disclosed that both suspects have given statements admitting their roles in the incident. Investigators have also recovered key evidence, including the drink used to sedate the victim. The victim and the suspects have confirmed the nature of the substance found.

The two students remain in custody and will be transferred to the Gender Desk Unit of the Ondo State Police Command as the case progresses toward prosecution.

Reassuring the public, the Command emphasised that every individual connected to the crime will face the full weight of the law. Ayanlade also urged parents and guardians to caution their children about personal relationships, noting that trust developed over many years can still be exploited for criminal motives.
