World Bank Approves $1.25 Billion Financing Package for Nigeria.

The World Bank Group has approved a $1.25 billion financing package for Nigeria alongside a new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) that will run from 2026 to 2032, aimed at boosting economic growth and creating jobs through private sector investment.

The funding, provided under the Nigeria Actions for Investment and Jobs Acceleration (NAIJA) programme, will support key government reforms in areas including capital markets, the digital economy, electricity, trade, agriculture, and domestic revenue generation.According to the World Bank, the new framework is expected to expand electricity access to 32 million Nigerians, provide broadband connectivity for 58 million people, improve health and nutrition services for 40 million citizens, and support 9.5 million farmers.

World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Mathew Verghis, said the initiative builds on Nigeria’s recent macroeconomic progress, including stronger economic growth, increased government revenue, and improved investor confidence. He, however, noted that sustained improvements in living standards will depend on addressing structural challenges that hinder private sector investment.
