BUHARI GOES HOME

The former President of Nigeria, Major General Mohammadu Buhari’s final journey began on Tuesday afternoon, when his body arrived from London at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina.

President Tinubu and other dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governors, Senators, Foreign Leaders and Business leaders escorted the late President’s remains to his hometown, Daura, Katsina.

Following the funeral prayers (Salatul Janazah), by the Chief Imam of Daura, Sheikh Salisu Rabiu at the PMB Helicopter Ground in Daura, the former President, who passed away at the age of 82 was laid to rest at his residence in Daura as thousands of mourners gathered to pay their last respects.

Dignitaries at the burial included President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shetimma,  Former Vice Presidents Yemi Osinbajo and Atiku Abubakar,the National Assembly leadership, including Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President, Barau  Jibrin; Senator Kawu Sumaila, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Senator Sani Bello, Senator Abu Ibrahim, and Senator Yariman Bakura.President Tinubu praised Buhari as “a patriot who lived and died for Nigeria”

President Tinubu and the late President’s close family members witnessed the final interment at 5.50pm. Buhari is survived by his wife, Aisha Buhari, children, grandchildren and an enduring legacy that has left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political and historical landscape.
