Mother Dies While Waiting for Daughter Writing UTME in Ondo

A woman has died after collapsing while waiting for her daughter who was writing the ongoing UTME in Ondo State. The incident happened at Ilara Mokin Junction and has left many people in shock, as the cause of her death is still unknown.

A sad incident has happened in Ondo State, where a woman lost her life while waiting for her daughter who was writing the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The incident took place on Monday at Ilara Mokin Junction in Ifedore Local Government Area. The woman has been identified as Oluwasola Victoria Adebayo.

According to people who were there, she had taken her daughter to the examination centre earlier that day. After getting to the junction, she started complaining that she felt weak, which made people around her worried.

Not long after, she suddenly collapsed. This caused panic as passersby and other people nearby rushed to help her. They tried to revive her, but their efforts did not work. She was later confirmed dead.

At the time this happened, her daughter was inside the examination hall, unaware that her mother had passed away while she continued writing her exam.

A resident who knew the woman said she was popularly called Mommy Ayo. The resident also shared that she had earlier talked about taking her daughter to the exam centre.

The incident drew a large crowd, with many people expressing shock and sadness over what happened.

The spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident and described it as very unfortunate.

He said the police had contacted the family of the woman. After necessary checks, her body was released to Mr Apapa Olamilekan, who identified himself as her son and also an officer of the Nigeria Legion in Akure.

He added that the police sympathise with the family and urged members of the public to remain calm.

As of the time this report was filed, the exact cause of her sudden death has not yet been known.
