Tyla Announces New Album APOP, Sets July 2026 Release Date

South African star Tyla is stepping into a bold new chapter of her career. The award winning singer has confirmed that her second album, APOP, will be released on July 24, 2026, marking what she describes as a fresh and more confident era.

The announcement came with a cinematic teaser that introduces fans to the vision behind the project. It presents a strong African identity while embracing a global sound, signaling Tyla’s ambition to reach even wider audiences around the world.

Speaking about the album, Tyla shared that this phase of her career feels more grounded. In an interview with Rolling Stone, she explained that while her debut era felt rushed, she now has a clearer sense of direction and purpose. She also told i-D Magazine that the 19 track album reflects her current life and growth, with a sound that came together naturally rather than under pressure.

The new project follows a remarkable run of success. Tyla’s breakout hit Water earned her a historic win at the Grammy Awards, making her the first artist to win Best African Music Performance. She repeated the achievement in 2026 with Push 2 Start, becoming the youngest African artist to win two Grammys and the first to claim the award twice.

While the full track list for APOP has not been revealed, a few songs have already built excitement. Chanel, which first appeared on her 2025 mixtape, returns on the album, alongside She Did It Again, a collaboration with Zara Larsson that carries a nostalgic pop feel. There are also strong rumors of a collaboration with Wizkid titled Dynamite, a move that could further strengthen her global appeal.

To kick off the album era in style, Tyla is set to perform on the Citi Concert Series in New York City on release day. The performance is expected to introduce fans to the new sound and energy of APOP in a big way.

With momentum on her side and a clear vision ahead, Tyla’s upcoming album looks set to define her place on the global stage even further.
