Peter Obi Urges Youths to Register, Vote in 2027 Elections, Says God Won’t Choose Leaders for Nigeria

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerian youths to take charge of the country’s future by registering and voting in the 2027 general elections. He stressed that God would not descend to choose leaders for Nigeria, placing the responsibility squarely on the shoulders of young citizens.

In a post shared via his official X handle on Sunday, Obi emphasized that the voter’s card remains the most powerful tool in the fight against poor leadership.

“Yesterday, I joined thousands of young people at the National Youth Rally marking the 40th Anniversary of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), hosted by the Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka” he wrote.

He reiterated that the task of nation-building rests heavily on the youth, noting that their active participation in elections is key to driving progress. According to him, building a better Nigeria requires leaders with competence, capacity, compassion and character.
