Makinde Calls for Fair and Inclusive PDP National Convention in Ibadan

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has emphasised that the upcoming national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must be rooted in fairness, inclusivity and open debate to reposition the party for success in the 2027 general elections.

In a newsletter released on Thursday evening, Makinde highlighted that the party’s future strength depends on transparent processes and unity. He noted that the PDP elective convention, scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, will produce 19 new members of the National Working Committee.

At its 101st National Executive Committee meeting held on July 24, the PDP had described the convention as a decisive pathway to restructuring and repositioning the party.

Makinde pointed to the recently concluded Oyo State PDP congress as evidence that peaceful and credible outcomes are possible when due process is followed.

“The recent PDP Oyo State congress was held without rancour, and we now look forward to our Ibadan convention in November with hope rather than fear. This is a major win for the party, for democracy and for you, the people” he stated.

The Ibadan convention is expected to be a turning point for the PDP as it works to consolidate its structures and regain political ground ahead of the next election cycle.
