DECEMBER TO REMEMBER: THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS

DECEMBER TO REMEMBER: THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS

It is the first day of Christmas and somehow the air already feels different. You wake up and December is just there, sitting at the edge of your bed like, “Good morning dear, I brought small joy for you.” The breeze even feels softer. The sky looks like it rinsed its face. There is a tiny excitement hiding inside your chest and you cannot explain why, but you like it.

December has a way of entering quietly but carrying gist in her bag. One minute you are brushing your teeth, the next minute you are humming Christmas songs you did not plan to remember. You step outside and the day feels lighter. Even your to-do list does not look as wicked as it did yesterday. This morning came with a gentle reminder that the year is almost done and somehow, you made it through everything you thought would finish you.

This Monday is not asking you to climb mountains. It is asking you to stretch your legs, drink water, take one neat breath and start small. December is not the month for confusion or unnecessary pressure. It is the month where life tells you “Calm down, we survived together, let us round this up with joy.”

As the festive energy begins to rise slowly, OECS wants you to enter December with sense and small softness. No need to choke yourself with unrealistic plans or try to compete with anybody’s enjoyment. This is the season of balance. If you can afford a small treat, enjoy it. If your budget is whispering “abeg”, listen to it. If your spirit says rest, please rest. December will not run away.

And let us talk about the fun part. This is the month of random office snacks, neighbours playing old school Christmas songs too loudly, road traffic that randomly turns into karaoke and the small ginger you feel when you see Christmas lights from afar. It is the season of laughter that comes from nowhere and smiling at strangers because the holiday spirit is contagious.

The first day of Christmas should not meet you stressing. It should meet you smiling. It should meet you choosing peace. It should meet you giving thanks in your heart because somehow, you made it to the last chapter of the year.

So welcome to December, dear. May this month wrap around you gently. May your joy be full, your peace be steady, your wallet be protected, your spirit be light and your days be soft. May this Monday set the tone for a December filled with ease, gratitude, contentment and plenty small fun that makes life sweet.

Happy first day of Christmas from OECS.
