Aiyedatiwa Unveils MoUs for Cement, Fertiliser and Petrochemical Projects in Ondo

Speaking on Friday at a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure, the governor described the projects as strategic investments aimed at reshaping the state’s economy and creating massive job opportunities.

“These are not routine projects; they are strategic undertakings that will change Ondo State’s industrial outlook,” Aiyedatiwa said. “With the cement factory, fertiliser plant, and petrochemical industry coming on board, thousands of jobs will be created, and our revenue base will be strengthened.”

The governor also disclosed plans to intervene on federal roads within the state to ease transportation challenges. He noted that beyond ongoing projects on the Ikare-Akoko, Idanre-Akure, and Okitipupa-Igbokoda roads, his administration would step in on other critical corridors to improve connectivity.

Turning to party matters, Aiyedatiwa urged APC members to close ranks, step up mobilisation, and consolidate grassroots support ahead of the 2027 presidential election in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He explained that the Renewed Hope Initiative was designed to strengthen the APC’s base, with a target of enrolling at least 1,000 new members per ward across Ondo State.

“This is our party, and it is our collective responsibility to make it stronger,” he said. “We must mobilise, we must organise, and we must be consistent in our engagements. Regular stakeholder meetings such as this are meant to keep us united, informed, and ready for the future.”

In his welcome address, Ondo APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, praised the governor for sustaining regular interaction with party leaders and urged members to return to their wards to fortify the party at the grassroots. “There is no other party for us apart from the APC,” he said. “Unity and commitment at the grassroots are critical if we want to sustain our dominance.”

Also speaking, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Victor Olabimtan, assured that the party remained united in his constituency. “In our area, the APC is one. There are no factions, no divisions. We are solidly behind the governor and the party leadership,” he affirmed.

On his part, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, Deputy Director of Corporate Services at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), commended the governor’s performance, noting that his developmental initiatives were visible across all 18 local governments. He encouraged Aiyedatiwa to “do even more,” stressing that with greater mobilisation, the APC could record an even higher margin of victory in 2027.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, former Deputy Governor Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, and several other prominent stakeholders.
