Akpabio Says More Opposition Governors Set to Join Tinubu in APC

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has revealed that several governors from opposition parties are finalising plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and align with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Akpabio made the remark in his goodwill message at the launch of Ten Years of Impactful Leadership of the APC Administration in Nigeria, a book authored by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, during President Tinubu’s visit to Owerri for project commissioning.

He noted that Nigerians are beginning to witness the impact of Tinubu’s reforms, highlighting testimonies from students, farmers and business owners who he said were already benefiting from the administration’s policies.

“The beneficiaries themselves are speaking about the positive changes you have brought. If we say it, critics accuse us of rubber-stamping your achievements. Yet, the results are evident in the lives of ordinary Nigerians” the Senate President added.

Akpabio praised Uzodimma for documenting the achievements of the APC in his book, stressing that progress is best shown through action and not just words. He described the quality of projects in Imo State as impressive, noting that residents must be proud of their governor’s work.

Reflecting on his tenure as Akwa Ibom governor 18 years ago, Akpabio said he had always been a progressive leader, pointing to his own legacy projects as evidence of his commitment to development.

His remarks come amid growing speculation about realignments in Nigeria’s political landscape as the ruling party consolidates its hold ahead of future elections.
