The PFIPC “Ghost Agency” Scandal Deepens

A major political storm is brewing around the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), drawing sharp reactions from opposition groups like the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.  

 The Dispute: Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew (claiming to be the agency’s DG) alleges he paid a ₦400 million bribe to Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to secure his appointment and claims Gbajabiamila demanded a 48% cut of the agency’s ₦27 billion take-off grant.  

 The Counter-Claim: The Presidency strongly denies the allegations, labeling the PFIPC “fictitious” and pushing forward with an 8-count forgery and impersonation charge against Adeyemi.  

 The Bureaucratic Twist: Despite the Presidency’s insistence that the agency doesn’t exist, investigative reports show the PFIPC actually holds a ₦1.3 billion allocation in the official 2026 Appropriation Act and secured a recruitment waiver for 300 staff last year. The high-stakes legal showdown is scheduled for July 27, 2026.
