Osun Election Alignment & Pre-Election Tensions

Ahead of the August 15 Osun State Governorship Election, political alliances and tensions continue to heighten:

 APGA Candidate Steps Down: Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, candidate for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), officially withdrew from the race and endorsed Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).  

 PVC Replacement Deadline: INEC notified voters in Osun needing replacement for lost, damaged, or defaced Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) that downloadable printing closed at midnight on August 9.

 Stolen PVC Replacement: Specific replacement provisions were made for voters in Odo-Otin and Ife Central local government areas whose cards were stolen by hoodlums, though INEC reassured voters that stolen cards remain unusable.  

 Accord Party Members Arrested: Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign organization reported that over 60 Accord Party members are currently in police detention amid ongoing political friction.
