FG Declares September 5 Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid

Muslims in Nigeria and around the world will observe Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of Prophet Muhammad, on Friday, September 5, 2025, following the Federal Government’s declaration of the day as a public holiday.

The announcement, issued Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, was made on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

In its message, government congratulated the Muslim faithful and urged them to emulate the Prophet’s exemplary virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance and compassion. Nigerians of all faiths were also encouraged to use the occasion to pray for peace, security and stability, while supporting efforts to strengthen unity and foster national development.
