Olubadan-Designate Rashidi Ladoja Seeks Prayers to Justify People’s Confidence

Oba Ladoja, who hosted the trio at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday, said his reign would focus on preserving and strengthening the Yoruba traditional institution. He added that prayers were needed to enable him justify the confidence reposed in him by the people.

“I am overwhelmed by the number of dignitaries who have been coming to pay homage from across Nigeria since my nomination as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland” Ladoja said. “Former governors, royal fathers, philanthropists, businessmen and women have been visiting, and I ask for prayers so I can do good for our people and live up to expectations.”

The former Oyo State governor stressed that his priority would be fostering unity among the Yoruba. According to him, traditional rulers and political leaders must work together after elections for the collective progress of Yorubaland.

Earlier, Daniel said their visit was to congratulate Ladoja, describing him as a “great politician, businessman, ship owner and governor” whose contributions, particularly in the banking sector, were remarkable.

Mimiko added that Ladoja’s track record made them proud, while Aregbesola emphasised that their visit was simply to pay homage and affirm readiness to attend the forthcoming coronation.

Oba Ladoja was nominated as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland following the passing of his predecessor, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on July 7, 2025.
